MILES HAD ME GOING WHEN HE WENT TO HELP PETRA. SKVNSJMERH BE I was ready to find a hard copy of the book just to throw it, lol. I know Miles said he was talking to his dad that one time on the phone... but I actually half-wondered if he had just gotten off the phone with Daphne's dad until the book clarified. That line of thought lead to another gut suspicion that turned out to be correct, that part of that time that he disappeared, he was on his way to chew Daphne's dad out in person. It just SOUNDS like something he'd do, damned if I wasn't right!!! MILESSSSSS ♥ Yeah, the more Daphne talked about her dad, the more I could see exactly why she had her guard up. It was interesting, the thing she said too about missing Ashleigh's birthday made her more like her dad than her mom, but honestly I didn't see it that way. She isn't a habitual offender in the not showing up category, and she was going through a thing BECAUSE of her dad. I understood why Ashleigh reacted the way she did, but like she even admitted herself, she did kind of take it too far. I'm just glad it didn't permanently put a wedge between them and they were able to have the conversation that they did. They were both so open and honest, and both kind of realized a thing or two about themselves in that moment in the pink room. I liked Starfire. I think she really truly wanted to know Daphne, and I get the sense there's probably a lot she doesn't know or understand yet about her new husband's history with his daughter. She was probably kind of flighty the way he was, but I think it was kind of different for her. She was a free spirit, and probably didn't realize them leaving so abruptly was such a hurtful and big deal, because again, not knowing the history there, she probably just figured oh, this is a nice impromptu visit to his adult daughter, so she'll understand and we'll catch up soon. I kind of got the sense she was oblivious, because Daphne's dad painted such a different picture of their relationship, like how he was even saying to Daphne that Miles "didn't know her that well" because of *course* she wouldn't be upset by him just up and leaving like that and be bothered by things like that. If HE'S that oblivious, she would be by default. Poor Starfire. Anyway, I thought she was sweet and funny lol. PETOSKEY FRIIIIIESSSSS. Ha, I hadn't thought of Big Boy, but if that isn't one of the most accurate things! So many trips we've stopped at a Big Boy somewhere on the drive home from vacation, or at the one in Ludington.

They're all so good! The Black Harbor ones can get kind of dark, and at times a bit gruesome because of the nature of the murders, so you have to kind of have a taste for police procedurals and whatnot. Very well-written, though. She exposes the human insecurities of the main characters and the not so pleasant things that were going on in their lives leading up to the murders, which makes it all the more compelling. Good Omens is just plain sci-fi/British humor GOLD. So good, I can see now why Neil Gaimen gets so much (deserved) hype!
