Pat got me The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for Christmas, but I still need to read it. My plan is to read that sometime this year and re-read The Hunger Games series and re-watch all the movies. And see the new one too.
I've seen Only if You're Lucky being read by different friends on Goodreads. Going to have to check that one out. Same with The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic by Breanne Randall, I've looked at that a few times on Goodreads/the library. Going to have to check that one out sometime too!
As I've said before, The Midnight Library holds a special place in my heart. Pat got it for me for my birthday (either last year or the year before) and I couldn't put it down. Then I re-read it after I lent it to him to read. Sooo good! I've often wondered about different timelines or different decisions/paths that I could have gone. Like I've wondered about the years Pat and I were separated/the years we missed having, but Pat always points out that they were supposed to have happened.
Furthermore, which Haig poignantly touches on, even those other versions of myself, and their lives, were not my own, because I hadn't lived them. I can't just drop in on another (except in of course the fictional confines of the Midnight Library with Mrs. Elm, or in Hugo's video store with his uncle, I suppose, as a "slider"). This was such a great point from Haig that I had never thought of and I agree with you it was breath of fresh air to read and think about long afterwards. I thought the midnight library was a beautiful metaphor as well! Oh that's so awesome that Carey Mulligan narrated it! Oh I need to check out his other book still! ♥
